Ah, bugger.
But it was freeeeeee! Dammit, now I need to find someone with a PS3 copy of the first one to borrow.
(Before anyone mentions how cheap these things are on Steam etc - I've not played a PC game since Left4Dead years ago....)

Re: Go to i49 and Wipe Away The Debt!
PS+ gave away Bioshock 2 a while back and I finally got round to starting it last week. I'm not sure if it's because I haven't played the first one or if I've not given it much chance but it's not done a great deal for me so far.
Am I missing much by leaping into the series at the sequel?

Re: Network issues
PoE is a good call - personally I'd look at getting a passthrough model so you don't lose the socket, though you'll pay more for the privilege. £20 for a set is a cracking price though.... It depends if you have spare sockets :P On a completely unrelated(ish) note, if anyone's in the market for a ge...

Re: Network issues
Problem solved then! Either:
a) tack the long cable to the skirting board around the walls to the router.
or
b) drill a hole through the wall and run a shorter cable through to the router.
A far cheaper solution than a new PC and guaranteed to clear up any WiFi-related ping issues!

Re: Network issues
If you've got a network cable you can plug yourself (well, your PC at least) directly to the router and see if you can replicate the ping issues (you say this isn't an option - make it an option!). ¤ If the ping issues persist through the NIC, it's likely to be your router / connection, not the PC. ...

Take the CPU & VGA card down a notch (all of 0.2GHz on the CPU) and move to mATX format (without losing any functionailty) and save a further £60

A full replacement, with essentially the same kit (but tweaked for cost / performance) for £730: http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/940/asheescan.png Add the Ebuyer 7870 LE VGA card and you're laughing. You may have already been laughing. I even added a PCI WiFi card for funsies! Alternatively, gett...

Re: Computer Build help
I'd troubleshoot the wifi issue / replace the wifi card while you're upgrading then.
Next you'll be telling us you're still on 56k dialup because you like the lag.

Re: Computer Build help
Kryten - Glad you like the shiny shiny. It's easy to justify a little extra cash once you've had to wait a few days ;) Regarding the 2x 6 pin (or is it 1x6, 1x8 pin?) power for the VGA card itself - yes they're needed. The PCI-E slot can't provide enough power at full draw (up to url=http://azttek.b...

Re: Computer Build help
Any luck with the 7950 stock yet? Worringly I can't find that card at all on the website anymore  If they're all out and not coming back, I'd seriously consider going for the 7870 LE models - they're brand new to market and use a slightly trimmed version of the 7950 Tahiti core. At 1080p resol...

Re: Computer Build help
I just noticed the VGA card you picked is on pre-order... That means you might get to play Scan Stock Bingo ! ( ©Heeuge ) If I remember rightly, Scan won't send the order until all items are in stock. While you're waiting on the VGA, another component on the list may run out of stock as well. I spen...

Re: Computer Build help
I'd spend the £25 you'd pay for Scansure towards the 23" monitor instead, keeping you on budget. If you're building with someone who's done it before you'll be fine - even if you're plugging things in solo things are pretty straightforward (you'd do well to fit your VGA card into your CPU socke...

Re: Computer Build help
An SSD drive should be high on the list these days - videos etc can be stored on physical HDD since the GB/£ is still far superior but for performance you want your OS and games on SSD. A 120/128 GB drive will be fine for your needs and you should be able to find one for under £70. Something like th...
