Evelyn tries to pull the torch out of the claws of the burning creature. Next action depends largely on whether she fails or succeeds.

Evelyn lit the torch. It erupts into flames a bit faster than she anticipated and she barely suppresses a scream. She waits for William to attack, then, as the zombie staggers, takes her chance and lurches forward, thrusting the torch at whatever clothes the creature is wearing, since they'd be most...

Finally convinced the coat is soaked up enough in kerosene, Evelyn grabs one of the spears and stabs it into the coat, wrapping the fabric around it as tight as she can. Grabbing the matches, she hesitates a moment and looks at the others. "I'm ready to light this thing, might wanna get out of ...

"Riiiiight..." Evelyn swiftly returns to William with the object, eyeing it doubtfully. "What do you think?" She glances past the man to see if the zombies have any intention of attacking them.

[Oh yes, that makes sense. ]

Finding no torches, Evelyn frantically shines her torch around, looking for the lantern.

A nervous Evelyn tries to dig up her matches from her inside pocket, though it takes her a while to find them in the unfamiliar coat. Staying well behind William and Julia, she sidesteps towards one of the unlit torches, trying with both hands to remove it from its holder.

Evelyn, who knows better than to attack (this time), being the defenseless nurse that she is, quickly hides behind William. "Please kill them before they kill us. We don't have a farmhouse to hide in this time." she hisses, keeping an anxious eye on the two walking 'shouldn't-be-alives'.

She kneels by the carpet, quietly examining it. unless she finds anything alarming, Evelyn proceeds to roll back the carpet and carefully open the hatch, provided it isn't locked, of course.

[Oh... well, taking the safe route then.] Evelyn retreats from the door, pushing it as far shut without actually closing it, just so the lightfall of the hallway won't reach the room anymore. As quietly as she arrived she makes her way back up the stairs and gestures for William to follow her. Outs...

Evelyn will pretty much continue watching until something happens (i.e. whatever it is that's hiding behind the curtain is revealed)...unless she is, of course, discovered or William has any objections to her risky behaviour.
