CTSamurai and The Burning Crusade

Post by Commando »

There are still a good few months left before the next expansion, Wrath Of The Lich King, is released, but Blizzard have announced already that there will be no new content until the expansion. Every raid dungeon, zone and all major content is already in the game, so we now know roughly what World Of Warcraft will be like until WotLK appears on the shelves.

So it's a good time to look at what we've accomplished so far and compare it to where we were at this point before the Burning Crusade was released. As before, we are a casual Guild that has made excellent progress in hardcore content. There aren't many casual Guilds who can claim to have downed Teron Gorefiend and Kaz'rogal, two incredible accomplishments that I certainly never thought we'd be capable of. Nor are there many casual Guilds who could claim to have downed Razorgore before TBC, a kill that I still remember well even now.

But it's also been fairly clear that our progress has slowed recently, just as it did after that Razorgore kill. Unfortunately that's just what happens in World Of Warcraft as an expansion looms and information about it becomes more widely available. We're not the only Guild that's experienced these problems, and many hardcore and casual Guilds have fallen apart just as many did before TBC was released.

It's possible that with a superhuman effort we could recruit heavily, weed out those who don't fit in or who aren't prepared to put in the effort required, and get back to where we were, but doing so would mean months of grinding through content we've already seen many times before. That's not something that is going to interest many of you who have been with us for so long, nor is there any guarantee of success and further progress at the end of it.

So the decision has been made that we will not attempt to progress any further through hardcore raiding content in The Burning Crusade. We will be slowing recruitment and cutting back on our raiding schedule rather than desperately trying to struggle again through raids that we cleared long ago. This decision isn't one that's been taken lightly, but we feel it's what's best for the Guild.

This is most certainly not the end of CTSamurai. We were in the same position before TBC was released and we did the same thing then, and we came back stronger than ever. We will do the same with WotLK, and I hope many of you will be there and with us as we level up to 80 and start forging our way through the new raids in Northrend.

But in the meantime there will be some of you who want a go at the endgame content, who maybe want to see what a hardcore Guild is like. We understand this and if anyone wishes to leave the Guild and join another to experience endgame content then there will certainly be no hard feelings. You've all put tremendous effort into getting us to where we are today and there's no shame in wanting to see everything TBC has to offer.

To everyone who has helped us get this far, especially those of you who were here at the beginning and are still with us now, myself and the other Sensei and Master Samurai want to say a huge thank you. We can all be proud of what we've accomplished together. For those of you thinking of going sight-seeing with another Guild, we wish you the best of luck and if you want to return when the expansion is released then you're welcome to do so. For those of you who are happy to stay, you can look forward to a little more free time in your lives as a result of a reduced and more relaxed raiding schedule, something that the Raid Leaders among us will be breathing a huge sigh of relief about.
