Won't you be needing a new PC to power games in such a high resolution?

Well, so far I'm very pleased with my purchase. :) The panel itself is fantastic, the colours are great and I'm very glad I went for a 27" screen rather than a 24" as I was originally planning. For the price, it's incredible. It does have a few issues though:
  • The stand is awful. It's wobbly, it creaks in a worrying way when it flexes, and it looks like a bit of a major operation to remove and replace.
  • The lack of any controls other than brightness is a bit frustrating as the black level/gamma could do with a little adjustment.
  • The lack of any on-screen display makes adjusting the brightness surprisingly tricky.
  • There's a bit of backlight haloing around the corners, particularly on the left side, though it's only really noticeable on a black screen. Apparently this can be due to excessive pressure between the backlight and screen and can be corrected, but I'm not quite ready to start dismantling the casing just yet.
  • The screen and surround are both very glossy, it definitely works best in a darkened environment to avoid reflections.
  • My boss bought one and his power supply has already failed, though he's getting it replaced for free.
None of that makes me regret buying it for a moment, though. :)

At least they didn't withhold delivery until the charge was paid - given it's taken them almost a month to get that invoice to you the monitor could be thrown on a pile at their depot until now!

The invoice was actually sent about 3 weeks ago, but since I had the monitor delivered to my work address that's where they sent the invoice. FedEx didn't put my name on it so it got forwarded to the finance department for payment.

Unfortunately for me, they realised it wasn't work-related and eventually it landed on my desk. :P

Ah.... Still, props for inadvertently trying to get work to cover costs!

Did you not try and convince your boss it was for the one he ordered?

Considering that he got an invoice too, I thought that might have been a bit of a stretch. :P
