New DKP site

Post by Commando »

You may have noticed recently that there have been some problems with our existing Raid Planner and the DKP site itself. In order to resolve these problems we've decided to create a new DKP site with a more up-to-date Raid Planner system that should give us some handy extra functions as well.

Some of the advantages are:
  • Characters should no longer spontaneously vanish from the Raid Planner.
  • Raid data should no longer duplicate on your Character sheet.
  • DKP and items should no longer be mistakenly added to the wrong alt.
  • Characters should show up as level 70 rather than level 60.
  • The Raid Planner has a new Calendar view as well as the standard raid list.
  • The Raid Planner should correctly prevent signups after signup has closed.
  • You now get a single roll per raid rather than a different roll for each alt.
  • You can select a "Not Sure" option when signing up if you're unsure if you'll be available.
  • Raids on the Planner will include an expected End Time.
  • Data from characters no longer in the guild will not clutter up the list.
Of course there are some disadvantages to setting up a new system as well:
  • Every member of the guild will need to create an account on the new site.
  • You will only retain your current DKP total - the history of all previous raids will remain visible on the old site but will not be transferred to the new one.
We hope to start using the new Raid Planner for the raids next week. That means you should create an account there now so that your data can be transferred over. From the beginning of next week we will stop using the old DKP site and start using the new one, so anyone who has not created an account by then will find they are unable to sign up to any new raids. There will be a link at the bottom of the page to instructions on how to do this, but first I want to go over how the new system will work.

One of the advantages of the new system is that you can either Sign Up normally to a raid or choose Not Sure. The Not Sure option is intended to be used if you'd like to come to the raid but you don't know whether or not you'll be available. You can also use Not Sure if you don't expect to be there for the start of the raid, or if you don't expect to be able to stay until the end. The way this will work is as follows:

If you Sign Up as normal:
  • You must be available when raid invites start. If you are not a DKP penalty may be applied and you will lose any Wildcards you have, even if you were outrolled.
  • If you are invited to the raid you must stay until the end as specified on the Raid Planner. If you leave before this time a DKP penalty may be applied.
  • If you are outrolled you will receive a Wildcard, which will give you priority over other people on the next raid.
If you use the Not Sure option:
  • You may be asked to join the raid if there are not enough normal Sign Ups or if someone drops out. Rolls and Wildcards will be taken into account by the Raid Leader when choosing someone from the Not Sure list.
  • If you join the raid you may lose any Wildcards you have, just as you would if you'd joined normally.
  • You will not receive a Wildcard even if you are not invited to the raid.
  • No DKP penalty will be applied if you're not available or do not wish to join the raid.
  • No DKP penalty will be applied if you join the raid and leave early so long as you make it clear to the Raid Leader when you first join the raid what time you expect to have to leave.
  • Where possible you should also use the Note function on the Raid Planner to indicate what time you expect to arrive or leave.

Hopefully this new option will be a benefit for those who are unsure about whether or not they'll be available and don't wish to risk a DKP penalty for not showing up, but remember that people who Sign Up normally will always have priority over those who sign up as Not Sure, and those who choose Not Sure will not receive Wildcards if they don't make it into the raid.

Follow this link to get to the page which tells you how to create an account on the new DKP site.

The new DKP site is now live - the link from the top of the forums should change shortly to point at the new site. Please remember that all future raids will be shown only on the new Raid Planner so if you haven't yet signed up you should do so now.
