Post by Suzi »

Not sure if you guys have all seen this yet, but I remember there was a thread about portal not long ago. I can't find it now and I'm in a hurry so I'm not going to try too hard, but if you're interested in portal 2..

Heres a video of it!

Very interesting that its coming to the PS3 along with steam, I guess Gabe Newell no longer feels the PS3 is "a waste of everybody's time"

I did the same for a while, thought I'd give it an hour before I went to sleep. Went to bed at 4 in the morning in the end...

Is it only me who got light headaches from playing Portal? :)
Still a nice game, not too long, but that way it stays interesting.

Oh and for those who haven't played it yet, there's not only cake but also an awesome song!
Plaaaaaaay it!

FYI - no. I also got headaches and felt sick whilst playing it. Was part of the reason I stopped. I got up to level 17? 18? can't remember. I think there was only 2 levels left -_-

might finish it this weekend. Dunno, depends if I can get past the /blurgh :p

Sounds like simulation sickness, ash.

Try keeping your attention partially focused on something 'on the screen' rather than 'in the world' (the little 'crosshairs' for example)

Lots of people had similar problems with games like Mirror's Edge (if you've ever played it). Apparently it's because you can see that 'you' are moving with your eyes, but the rest of your body disagrees, so it's like, you know. Kind of the same as being hammered when like, the ROOMS SPINNING! But you're not actually moving and then you start puking up and stuff to get rid of the alcohol that's doing it. Except this time theres no alcohol.

I had that once when I was about 10, after playing Venus The Flytrap for around 6 hours without a break. I nearly passed out afterwards. Since then I've been fine, so I reckon kids should be forced to play computer games excessively to immunise themselves against it. ;)

Its weird though, I have played FPSes looooads before and not had this.

I guess my break from playing them has had this effect.

Also.... this is on a flatscreen monitor. I have always used CRTs before.... makes me wonder o_O

as for the "focus on something other than the whole world"... that kinda reminds me of arena.... where you NEED to be focused on the whole world, so you can position yourself better and see things coming before you get pwnt...
